Sometimes taking care of your mental health means taking time away from work.

Mental health symptoms can affect more than how you feel—they can impact your concentration, energy, sleep, attendance, productivity, and ability to manage the demands of your job.

At VaVel Mental Wellness, we understand that there may be times when your mental health symptoms interfere with your ability to function effectively at work. When clinically appropriate, we can help established patients navigate the mental health aspects of medical leave.

Support may include

Mental health evaluations

Assessment and discussion of how psychiatric symptoms are affecting your ability to function at work

FMLA or other leave documentation when clinically appropriate

Follow-up psychiatric care during your leave

Medication management, when appropriate

Monitoring symptoms and treatment progress

Return-to-work planning when applicable

FMLA Documentation Is Available for Established Patients

FMLA, disability, and other employment-related paperwork is completed for established VaVel Mental Wellness patients when clinically appropriate.

Documentation is not automatically provided based solely on a patient's request. Recommendations for leave are based on your psychiatric evaluation, established treatment relationship, symptoms, functional limitations, treatment history, and the provider's clinical judgment.

New patients should not expect FMLA or disability paperwork to be completed during an initial appointment. An appropriate provider-patient relationship and clinical history must first be established before VaVel Mental Wellness can determine whether leave documentation is appropriate.

Important Information

Completion of FMLA, disability, return-to-work, or other employment-related documentation is based on clinical assessment and does not guarantee approval of leave, benefits, accommodations, or disability by an employer, insurance company, government agency, or other third party.

Additional appointments may be required to evaluate symptoms, monitor treatment, assess progress, and determine readiness to return to work.
